I'm halfway!
I had my ultrasound yesterday to find out what we're having. We took the kids along and I did a little interview with them before we left to see how they were feeling about it all.

They are so excited for the new baby and it has been fun to watch.
Our sonogram lady was a little grumpy when we arrived. She was very short and negative with us.
I think it was because we had all the kids in tow and she expected them to be out of control heathens the whole time. But they weren't and we won her over before we left.
It was on a newer machine. Everything was much more clear than with my previous ones and we got to have a 3D ultrasound too. I am amazed. That's all.
It's hard to explain how just amazing it is to see that beautifully made child in the womb. You'd think that the fourth time around, I'd be used to it, but I'm not. Still amazing.
The first thing we saw was baby's face and it's little hand popped into the screen and waved at us. The kids loved that.
We only got 3D pictures to take home. I was kinda bummed that we didn't get some of the 2D but that's okay. I guess at only 20 weeks the baby is still pretty skeletal (the 3D pictures you see in magazines or in the doctor's office are at about 35 weeks... after baby has fattened up a bit.)
The kids all got their own picture to keep.
And the news you're all waiting for... It's a boy!!!
Drew's little heart is very happy. All of us are. That makes us a full house and balances the hormones out a little around here.
His name will be Josiah Riley.
When we were first looking for baby names, we knew we wanted one that meant something special. Those of you that know our story, know that this baby is a special blessing, as they all are in their different ways. Josiah is a child of joy... a joy of God's restoration and healing. He's a reminder of God's abounding grace in our lives.
It's impossible for me to explain it, even in writing. Just take my word for it.
I searched names by meaning, but we didn't care for the ones we found so we decided to let it be and waited for 'the' name to come to us.
AJ was reading in 2 Chronicles about the king Josiah.
"Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem one and thirty years.
And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the ways of David his father, and declined neither to the right hand, nor to the left."
We both thought that was neat and something to aspire to so I decided to find out what Josiah meant. Here's what I found-
Josiah: God supports, heals; Jehovah has healed; the Lord saves. This name is perfection. It was meant for us.
So that's the big news.
I've been feeling pretty good health wise. My hips are starting to (literally) be a pain, but I knew that was coming. I'm trying to find ways to keep it minimal early on, but it's frustrating because I haven't had much luck. My midwife says maybe physical therapy later, but if it gets that unbearable I'll just go to the chiropractor.
I'm hoping it won't.
If anyone has had hip problems and knows a better way than sitting on a heat pad all day, please do share. I don't have too much time to sit.
Baby about the length of a banana and my tummy is fast growing with him. I'll leave you with a belly picture.

Yay!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you guys! I'm finally not the only one who had a boy this go 'round. There are some awesome days ahead for you guys watching Drew & his BROTHER. There was only one boy in our family of 4 kids so I never really got to see the interaction between brothers up close until I had a couple boys of my own. It is something. Sometimes it can get scary! =)
Every baby is a special blessing. I lost one a couple months before Rhett and then thought I was losing Rhett at 12 weeks as well. Then had all those health problems in April & couldn't get pain meds during the birth. Let me tell you, that boy is a balm to my innermost parts.
If you ever wish to share your story I'd love to hear it! But for now I will send a thank you heavenward for Josiah.
Thank you Heidi! They are all uniquely special!
DeleteCharlotte is my "balm" baby. It's amazing how strong a little baby can make you want to be :)
Aw, sweet baby pictures! All of my kiddos ultrasound pictures faded, due to the cheap paper they printed them on.=(
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Dana! So happy for you :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! Happy day :)
